so I'm totally awful at the blog a day...

... so I'm going to try and commit to a "weekly wrap up" on Sundays... If I have the time (or remember) to blog during the week, I will...but for now, I'm going to commit to something I know I can do won't be as awful at accomplishing.

This week was crazy busy... lots of working out and time with the kiddos...and work. Nothing too exciting.

Then Friday, my mom tripped going down the curb while walking the dog and broke BOTH her ankles. She's currently in a physical rehab facility to heal another couple days before going home. (She's really not the best patient, so I wish those RNs luck).

I'm a bit frustrated with her... she basically told me today that I should have spend the entire day with her instead of running (today was my weekly long training run for the Ultra Marathon I'm signed up for in March) and should cancel the race because she thinks I need to be 100% available to HER. Well, maybe I'm a HORRIBLE daughter, but I just don't think my entire life and priorities need to STOP because she has broken ankles.

I fully intend to changing a lot of things so that I can be there for her... but I cannot and will not drop everything. She also stated that Jason should not go to his acrobatics rehearsals so that I can be available 24/7 to help her. I offered help, I offered for her to stay here. But she said her dogs (who are staying here) would drive her crazy and she wants somewhere quiet. But then was mad at me because I can't stay at her house while Jason's out of town because then we'd have to schlep the girls all the way south to school in the morning, then I'd have to go back central for work, back south for pickup, then back to central to my mom's house. I told her that I could come help her during lunch or when Jason IS in town... but nothing I said seemed good enough. So frustrating.

I love my mom, and I am beyond willing to help her. BUT life can't stop because she has broken ankles. I just can't win sometimes ok, most of the time... when it comes to my mom.

Today was a long trail run... was pretty good but I'm sure I'll pay for it tomorrow.

In any case, off to bed. MOre fun with Mom tomorrow.

** 6 years **

Six years ago today, Jason got off a plane from Kuwait, walked through the doors of my condo, and never left. Literally. For real.

In spite of the fact that he got an apartment down the street from me, he never used it. Ok, we used it once for a superbowl party and let his sister stay there when she and her (then) fiance were visiting.

The last six years have been amazing. We have grown and changed so much as a couple, as a family, as individuals, and I couldn't think of anyone better with whom I want to spend my life.

I have far more to write, but no time at the present moment... so this will be continued later.

Happy trails

Ouch!

Bestest buds

Girl power Another glorious long run around sweetwater. Still practicing with various fuels and not using gels. So far so good. We had trail mix, vegan gf goji and apricot bars, and a sweet potato with salt. All good choices.

Today I'm sore. But still managed to pull over 10 miles ok the elliptical at the gym this morning. And I lat pulled 140 lbs. - Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

16 miles of pain

Note to self: Long runs on little sleep = tired, sore body.

However, the company (Jackie) was great and we got it done. We were originally going to do 18, but due to Jason having to drop Jenna off in Oceanside and go to acrobatics practice afterwards, we had to cut it short.

I'll post some pictures tomorrow and a more detailed run report...but for now, I just wanted to pop in and make a brieft entry.

Busy, busy Saturday

Dragged the kiddos on a ton of errands...don't they look happy?

...let the weekend begin!!

Not a horrible day of work, now onward to the weekend.

Not too much on the plate besides some time with friends, errands, and hanging out with the family...oh and a long trail run with Jackie on Sunday.

I think I'm also going to try preparing some of my weekly food on Sunday and see how that works out in terms of food preparation and what not during the week. I need to get out of the habit of stopping at the grocery store every day for "just one item" as we all know how that goes... (I end up with 20).

This IS the year I gain control of health and finances. I promise.

good morning, world

Yep, it's 4:41am and I'm wide awake. Why? Because I went to bed around 9:30...and my alarm went off at 4 so that I could take my Norco prior to working out at 5. I technically could get out of bed now and start my workout early but I'm pretty content with just lying here and writing in my blog.

This past weekend was such a success with our friends that our buddy whose parents own the place invited us all back for a spring/summer trip AND for this year's NYE as well. I can only imagine what awesome things will occur and how much fun we'll have. I'll need to either convince mom to watch them or have a weekend swap with Jackie or something.

I realize that I didn't yet write about 2011 in Review... so much happened. Let me just type some of the "highlights" whether they were good or bad.

*January: Carlsbad 1/2 marathon (ran with Randi), started the year with a 90 mile bike ride with a great group of friends

*February: Palm Springs Century with Jackie and Mike, PR'd 1/2 Marathon (thanks to Jackie) with a time under 2 hours!

*March: training like a mad woman for NOLA 1/2 Ironman with Randi, met a really awesome and open (and extremely FUN!!!) group of people (at a March Fourth show) with whom Jason and I start hanging out with often.

*April: trip to NOLA with Randi, went sub 3 hours on the bike, 2:05 on the run, got ot see Erika & Jeremy, ran 18 miles with Jackie

*May: diagnosed with RA

*June: on LOA from work, spent lots of time with friends and the kids

*July: epic flirty dirty 30 masquerade birthday party

*August: BURNING MAN - a transformative and incredible experience that changed my life, Jason join's Alex's "circus" (acrobats!!)

*September: epic circus held at my house

*October: CAF relay (first long run back on pavement with Jax)

*November: epic parties, awesome Thanksgiving

*December: Lexi's first half marathon (in Vegas, ran with her), Epic Tahoe trip

All in all, 2011 was a year of self discovery, overcoming adversity, and a lot of fun. We fell into an amazing group of friends and continue to deepend our friendships daily. As for Jason and I - our relationship has only gotten stronger. We've learned to be more open with each other, communicate better, and I feel that I truly do love him more now than ever. Cliche, I know, but it really is true. Over the years, our relationship has transformed from what I thought was the greatest love ever (at the time) to something that keeps getting better with time.

This month marks our 6 year anniversary of living together. In January 2006, Jason got home from Kuwait, stayed his first night home with me...and never left.

...and they lived (usually) happily ever after. The end.

Winner, winner dinner

my new favorite dinner... vegan gluten free "chicken" taquitos and brussel sprouts (new favorite veggies...and to think until this past weekend I hadn't eaten them in 20 years because I thought I "hated them.")
